BitTorrent app – Is Drive driven out of App Store
Just two days back we had posted about the Apple’s unexpected approval of Is Drive, a bit torrent app for the app store. However, the app failed to fetch an official approval a second time. After a thorough review process, Apple has finally decided to drop the app from the store. This removal was quite predictable as it was a mere mistake of Apple to approve such an app that would latently apprehend its terms of rules and regulations.
Is Drive allowed queuing of torrent files to the users premium ImageShack Torrent Drive account. Based on this, Apple has accused Is Drive to violate its rule of Section 22.4 of the App Store Review Guidelines, which states that “Apps that enable illegal file sharing will be rejected.” The developer, Kepner has tried his best to retain the app by citing examples of other third party apps that allow illegal downloads, but could not shake Apple’s determination.
It is important to note that this is not the first time that Apple had pulled a previously approved app from the app store. However, this incident proves that although Apple has eased up its guidelines for approval, but it hasn’t turned loose enough to allow any discrepant apps.
